SAM takes Malaysia up the value chain

Singapore Aerospace Manufacturing (SAM) is investing RM500mil in an aerospace component-manufacturing facility in Penang. The ground-breaking ceremony was conducted today by International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed. Also present was Penang Chief Minister Tuan Lim Guan Eng.

Its Chairman, Mr. Phillip Yeo said the amount was for the first two phases of the facility, known as Aviatron (M) Sdn. Bhd. on a 17.5 acre site in Penang Science Park at Bukit Minyak, Penang.

SAM has obtained a long term contract from Goodrich to produce Aero-Structure Nacelle (ASN) systems for Boeing 787 Dreamliner, Airbus 350 XWB, Bombardier C Series and Mitsubishi Regional Jet. The first phase of the new facility will be equipped with high-tech machinery imported from US and Germany for the manufacturing of machine parts under the said contract.

In collaboration with Lee Architectural Consultancy, a leading architectural practice specialize in industrial facility, Unitech has been commissioned by SAM as the Consulting Quantity Surveyor for this high-tech manufacturing facility. Our role includes full Pre and Post-Contract Quantity Surveying and Cost Management Services.
