The Island Medical City (IMC) marks the beginning of a new chapter in Island Hospital's history in Penang. The state-of-the art and one of the most advanced medical hub in Malaysia will be developed at an estimated cost of RM2 billion. Upon completion, it will be one of the largest medical tourist hubs in Southeast Asia comprising a 600 bed medical complex, medical suites and a medical tourist hotel. The first phase involves the construction of one block of 12-storey hospital with a basement; one block of 6-storey multi-level car park building and an underpass linking the existing hospital across Peel Avenue, estimated to be completed by the year 2021.
