Groundbreaking of Han Chiang Education City

Han Chiang University College has launched its proposed Education City in a groundbreaking ceremony on 5 August 2023. The ceremony marked the official commencement of the new construction project, which includes the main administrative building, teaching blocks, and dormitories. It also involves the redevelopment and enhancement of Han Chiang’s existing premises.

Han Chiang University College Of Communication (HCUC) is a non-profit institution of higher learning that offers quality education at affordable fees; it was established in 1999 and has become a renowned College in the country catering to the educational needs of local and international students. HCUC originated from the journalism programme offered by Han Chiang High School through its post-secondary education back in 1978.

The programme successfully produced a good number of journalists for the media industry.; from then onwards, the College has expanded its horizons and dived into other disciplines such as Mass Communication, Business Management, Information Technology, Chinese Studies and Multimedia -Han Chiang College received a formal invitation from the Ministry of Education Malaysia (now Ministry of Higher Education – MoHE) to be upgraded to a University College in 2014

The groundbreaking ceremony was presided by YB Anthony Loke, the Transport Minister, accompanied by the members of the Board of Three Institutions of Han Chiang including its Chaiman, Dato’ Seri Ooi Soo Hing.

“Once all the planning is completed, the three institutions of Han Chiang, which currently has over 4,000 students, will be elevated to accommodate 7,000 students in the future. This will provide a comprehensive and integrated educational institution for students from the northern region of Malaysia and even nationwide. In the future, the expanded HCUC campus will be known as “Han Chiang Education City”, Dato’ Seri Ooi Soo Hing was quoted as saying.
