MPPP awards Batu Ferringhi Market

Penang Municipal Council (MPPP) has recently awarded the contract for the construction and completion of the Batu Ferringhi Market at Batu Ferringhi, Penang.

The 2-storey market complex will be built on a 0.90ha land which was handed over to MPPP in 2012. The complex has a total built-up area of 56,000sf. It has been designed to cater for the disabled consists of a market with 30 stores and a hawker center with 26 outlets at the ground floor. There will be some other community facilities comprising a multi-purpose hall, a restaurant and a library on the 1st. floor of the building.

Penang Chief Minister, Lim Guan Eng has on 16 August 2014 launched the construction of the new market in a ground breaking ceremony held at the site.

The market is scheduled to be completed by second quarter of 2015. Penang folks particularly those staying within the vicinity of Batu Ferringhi will be able to enjoy this much awaited public amenity soon.
